The Saudi National Chemistry Team has secured (3) international bronze medals at the IMChO 2026. Held in the Russian capital, Moscow, from April 15 to 23, the prestigious competition featured (120) students representing (40) countries.

The (3) bronze medals were earned by students Ali Ahmed Ba-Wazir (General Directorate of Education in Riyadh), Mujtaba Abdullilah Al-Tarouti (General Directorate of Education in the Eastern Province), and Abdulaziz Badr Al-Ju'aid (General Directorate of Education in Madinah).

This achievement has elevated the Kingdom’s overall tally at the IMChO to (29) international awards, represented by King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "Mawhiba". This record includes (3) silver medals and (26) bronze medals, garnered through (14) participations since the Kingdom first joined the Olympiad in 2013.

IMChO is one of the most prestigious and formidable scientific competitions globally in the field of Chemistry, owing to the advanced complexity of its questions and its rigorous competitive framework. The inaugural edition was launched in 1967 in the city of Dnipropetrovsk as a Soviet competition. Conducted in Russian, the Olympiad is named after Dmitri Mendeleev, the visionary creator of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.

This participation is part of the Mawhiba International Olympiad Program, implemented by King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "Mawhiba" in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education. Through this initiative, students embark on an integrated qualification journey that encompasses national competitions and specialized training programs supervised by a distinguished cadre of local and international experts.

Participating students undergo intensive, year-round training programs comprising multiple stages of both theoretical and practical scientific qualification. These programs include domestic and international training camps designed to refine their skills in solving advanced chemistry problems and bolster their readiness for international competition, ultimately ensuring an honorable representation of the Kingdom in global scientific forums.

King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "Mawhiba" stands as a globally leading institution in identifying and fostering the gifted students. Serving as a national system for giftedness and creativity, it operates according to a strategic plan to foster giftedness, creativity, and innovation within scientific domains of national priority. These efforts are dedicated to building a knowledge-based society and fostering a vibrant culture of innovation.
