About the Service

Mentorship is widely considered as one of the most effective educational techniques in gifted education. It is based on a direct and dynamic interaction between an experienced expert mentor and a gifted student (mentee), with the goal of developing the student's talents and interests while also providing them with specialized skills and expertise in a certain field of study.

This program offers mentorship to students in grades 9 through 12, preparing them to actively participate in and engage with the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa).

The program spans a full academic semester (10 weeks).

Objectives:

• To give ongoing, specialized support to gifted students in scientific subjects under the supervision of expert, highly qualified and skilled mentors.

• To broaden students' knowledge and experiences in scientific subjects that are most suited to their abilities, interests, and preferences.

• To help students improve their skills in scientific research, self-directed learning, and personal growth.
• To help students improve their cognitive capacities and learn scientific thinking strategies for innovative problem solving.

• To encourage and enhance students' favorable attitudes toward scientific research in fields that are relevant to their interests and capabilities.

• To offer students opportunities to compete and exchange experiences with peers who share similar interests and capabilities, both in national and international exhibitions and competitions.

Program Admission Process

Students may be admitted to the program via one of two methods:

• For students in Mawhiba Research Enrichment Programs, at the end of the program, the program director evaluates the student's performance using a unique Mawhiba Mentorship assessment form. If the student earns an outstanding evaluation, a mentor will be assigned to support the student in continuing their efforts.

• If a Mawhiba student has a completed scientific project plan and wishes to participate in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa), subject matter experts will examine the project for originality. If the project is approved as original, a mentor will be assigned to support the student in continuing their efforts.
