Saudi students won seven international awards at the 2025 International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) in Australia and the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) in Germany, within the Kingdom’s engagements in global scientific competitions supervised by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education.

At the 66th IMO, held in Sunshine Coast, Australia, with 630 participants from 110 countries, the Saudi National Team earned six awards – three bronze medals and three certificates of appreciation. The bronze medals were awarded to Yousef Ayman Bakhit (Royal Commission of Education in Yanbu), Abdul-Salam Abdullah Al-Sulami (General Directorate of Education in Madinah), and Moath Saeed Al-Qahtani (General Directorate of Education in the Eastern Province). Meanwhile, Ahmed Fareed Al-Khalawi (General Directorate of Education in Jeddah), Ahmed Saad Al-Shahri (General Directorate of Education in Riyadh), and Mohammed Ahmed Al-Ghamdi (General Directorate of Education in the Eastern Province) received certificates of appreciation. With these results, Saudi Arabia’s overall tally at the IMO has reached 12 silver medals, 48 bronze medals, and 22 certificates of appreciation.

In a parallel achievement, Saudi Arabia also made its mark at the 5th EGOI 2025, held in Bonn, Germany, from July 14 to 20, featuring 226 participants from 60 countries. Rival Khaled Al-Hazmi (Grade 12 – General Administration of Education in Tabuk), won a bronze medal, bringing the Kingdom’s tally at the EGOI to seven international awards since it began participating.

These participations reaffirm the Kingdom’s commitment to nurturing national talents and advancing the skills of gifted students in specialized scientific fields, through intensive training and qualification programs implemented by Mawhiba, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and other relevant entities, to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s presence and competitiveness in international scientific arenas.
