The Saudi National Team clinched a bronze medal in its second participation at the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO 2025), held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from July 30 to August 6, with 56 students representing 14 countries.

The medal was awarded to Azzam Khalid Al-Omari – the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah, raising Saudi Arabia’s overall tally in this global competition to five international awards, including one silver and four bronze medals – reassuring the Kingdom’s rapid progress in advanced scientific fields within a comprehensive national ecosystem to foster giftedness and innovation.

The INSO, endorsed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2024, serves as a global platform to promote the peaceful and safe use of nuclear technologies, encouraging young people to specialize in this critical field and innovate solutions that expand its applications.

The Saudi Team underwent intensive training and preparation, organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, and in collaboration with the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE).

The INSO features two main assessments: a five-hour theoretical test and a practical session of equal duration, including hands-on experiments or simulations in nuclear science, with a strong emphasis on developing analytical and creative skills among participants.
