About the program
The International Standards Olympiad (ISO) is an annual competition held in South Korea for students in Grades 7 to 12 from around the world. It provides a platform for participants to demonstrate their knowledge of standards, specifications, and quality, as well as to exchange innovative ideas in these fields.
To further develop students' expertise in specifications, standards, and quality—and to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s goal of global leadership in this area—the Saudi team participated for the first time in the 19th edition of the International Standards Olympiad in 2024. Saudi Arabia was represented by three teams, each consisting of three students, marking a historic moment as the first Arab and Gulf nation to participate in this prestigious competition.
The Kingdom’s team was selected through a joint effort between the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), and the Ministry of Education (MoE). The selection process followed a structured timeline that included training programs, interim assessments, and preparatory activities to qualify and equip the team for participation in the International Standards Olympiad.
